Progress
21 January, 2007, 08:48 pm
It's sort of odd but these days it seems like I can only handle one or two projects at a time. That makes my blog kinda boring 'cause one of them is the top-down raglan for me, which grows very slowly.
My Monkey socks are movin' along. I have about an inch and a half before I start the toe. I would expect a pattern with 11 rows to be a little harder to follow, but it kinda sucks you in and zooms right along. If they don't get finished within the week I'm pretty sure they'll be finished next weekend. Yay. It seems like so long since I finished a pair of socks.
I'm still on the 3-squares-a-day horse. I'm even a little ahead so I've been working on weaving ends in and washing them up.

This is the cardigan, waiting for ends woven in and some ties. This is my second shot at this pattern and I will definitely make more. It's a freebie, too!
On another knitting note, did Knit Picks raise their prices recently? Or maybe it's just my imagination..
Oh hey! This part of Wisconsin has finally seen a snowstorm! Bye Barbara.. The only bad part was the plow clearing out the parking lot of my complex and 2:30 this morning.

Update
14 January, 2007, 01:45 pm
The baby cardigan is finished, except for the ends and maybe some ties. Yay! No pictures because the camera's batteries are dead once again, surprise. This time I kept track, and no exaggeration, I took three pictures on two fully-charged batteries. Time for new ones.
Thennn I ripped my Monkey socks and cast on. My wrists have been unhappy lately. They seem worse when they are cold and it's been cold outside and a little colder in my apartment. I'm thinking before I start anything else I should knit some wrist warmers and see if that helps any. Oh yeah. So I almost finished the inch of ribbing but I'm stopping for a rest.
I'm bored. I think I'd like to start a little kid quilt and I even have the fabric. My cutting mat and rotary cutter never got moved from my parents house though. Gotta make a list of things to bring home..lol.
So that's knitting today in Emily's world. In Smokey's world, the birds are very slow in coming back to the feeder since the Christmas tree left. They used it before the tree. An adjustment I guess. I bought a bushy houseplant to replace the tree but shortly after found out it is toxic if eaten. I need to call and see if I can return it. Not worried so much about the money (it was on sale, a steal really!) but don't have anywhere to go with it.

Cardigan Progress
11 January, 2007, 06:48 pm
Yay, that was fast! Just need some sleeves. I'm happy with it so far. Except I knit the 6 month size and ended up with slightly less than the newborn sized chest. Whoops. It's for whoever it fits so it really doesn't matter. I was just surprised. The yarn had two spots that were so loosely um, spun is the word I guess, that I had to cut the yarn. Since I learned that little trick about holding the old yarn and new yarn together and *not* weaving in more ends (*wink*) it is not so bothersome.
The box of squares probably looks like it hasn't changed much, but I did take 30 off, weave the ends in, wash them, and box them up. They're mostly replaced. I think I forgot to mention in my goals, but the last is to crochet 1,000 grannies this year. So far I've gotten my 3-a-day in aside from the two days I was sick.
My furball. I did have to reorganize the closet a bit to get the Christmas decorations in, and his box is now filled. Poor guy.
It has finally cooled off a bit here. I think I heard mention of.. SNOW! Yeesh. 'bout time. Kinda forget I'm in Wisconsin. Tomorrow the Sears man or lady comes to fix my stationary bike (y'know, the one that's been broken since the second or third day I used it). Anyway, sometime between 8 and 5. How's that for an appointment?

Wow! Have you seen it? If not, put it on your Netflix list. It's good stuff. Definitely worth your time. Fact filled but also quite entertaining. Just do it :)

Knitting n Stuff
7 January, 2007, 06:37 pm
I need a title generator. Can't believe the weekend is already heading out. I thought I'd be taking my tree down today but then I decided I must enjoy it one more day. It's only here once a year, after all. Plus putting away is always uh, less fun. And the cat.. I think he will miss it.
If you look closely there's a black tail and a white rear end under there, watching the bird on the feeder.
But knitting! I did some, until my wrists wanted to stop. I now have some arm holes.
I also looked through the 2007 Knitting page a day calendar. Much like last year's - less than impressive. I still think if you're going to put patterns in a box and charge for them, they shouldn't be patterns that are available free on the Internet. I wasn't really planning to buy it, more of an impulse decision 'cause it was on sale and I had been thinking about it and it was the second-last day of the year and it wouldn't be available anymore and blah blah. Next year I won't do it.

Knitting
4 January, 2007, 08:11 pm
This is the top down raglan I started. That neck? Looks a little big to me. There's like 6 rows of ribbing up there but that's it. I'm thinking I will work decreases in if it needs it. Waiting for longer needles.
This is the baby cardigan I just started. That's the collar. Pretty exciting. Now I remember why I don't take more pictures. Those are the newish KP Options needles. They unscrew on me. That's my only complaint. Maybe they forgot a rubber gripper?
I'm so sad. I missed knitting night which was being held at a group member's house. In the wee hours Tuesday morning I got sick. It wasn't pretty. And I wasn't prepared to be sick. I think all my food except the pretzels and the apple juice were on the "do not eat when you have a stomach bug" list. And all my blankets except 2 small throws were on the bed when I got sick on it. Mhm. So I had another day off from work and it was so-o boring. I traipsed down to the basement three times in my pjs to get the bare minimum - a mattress pad and a blanket - washed. I don't know how these things work but I rarely got sick throughout elementary and high school. I'd often get those little certificates for being present every day. *shrugs*
