Finished!     27 April, 2007, 08:20 pm
Yay! The big boring sweater is done! And I like it! I did the Wendy and took a mirror picture. Unfortunately my mirror is quite dirty so you won't be seeing those. That curling edge there seems to lay better when the sweater's on a body.

This was Knitaly, about 6 balls or so. The color doesn't have a name but rather a number that I don't remember. (Good deal at Webs) All that's left now is to send it through the wash and pack it away until winter. It's quite warm.

I started some socks. Two pair, actually. A boring rib for CIC and some yummy Lorna's Laces in the Conwy pattern from Knitting on the Road. I noticed at first glance that a lot of the patterns use like 56 inches or somethin'. I assumed that meant heavier yarn, but at second glance it seemed like some of those were fingering weight at 56 stitches. Huh? Must take another look..

Tomorrow is a knitting class. Only one or two are learning so I'm pretty excited. There is a pattern I want so maybe I'll get around to picking that up too. And some Lang Jawoll showed up awhile ago that I never got around to snagging.

Woohoo! Another FO     7 April, 2007, 12:49 am
Sort of. I wove in all the ends (hate stripes..) on my Booga Bag and will take it home tomorrow to felt it. I hope I left my pillowcase at my parents' house, lest I have fuzzies plugging things up. My i-cord looks ugly. I'm banking on the ugly felting away..

My poor kitty had some sort of issue yesterday. My carpet has a healthy handful of new stains. I was afraid it was the food with that massive recall. I confirmed with the vet that it wasn't. I was still paranoid so I cooked him some chicken to replace his canned treat in the mornings. (This is major, kids. I'm a vegetarian and never before have I purchased, or prepared for that matter, raw meat.) He wouldn't finish the chicken. So this morning he got a bit of canned food again and so far it is not on the carpet. But he hasn't finished his breakfast and it's nearly noon, so apparently his appetite is still off. I feel bad, but it sure is nice not to have a whining kitty begging for meals :D

I'm making Easter cut-outs as soon as the dough finishes chilling and then I'm onto a French silk pie. I could almost drool just thinking about it. My mom is taking care of the real food for dinner tomorrow.

Picture Post     5 April, 2007, 08:22 pm

Sockies! These are done in the Blueberry Waffle pattern with some yarn from Etsy.

Baby cardigan with my favorite Knitting Pure & Simple pattern. I knit the six month size with Lion Brand's Baby Soft. It turned out a little smaller than the newborn size.

Another in the same pattern with Red Heart Baby Econo. This is the six month size also. It's definitely bigger than the purple jobby but I didn't measure it.

That brings me down to 4 UFOs, a leaf lace shawl, CIC sockies, a booga bag, and my BBS. I only need to knit the i-cord before I felt the bag so that one's pretty close to being done. I'm saving the CIC socks just in case I have another magic loop class. And the BBS, I started the sleeves the other night. So exciting.. I nearly buried it in the closet as i was trying to set the sleeves up.

I want to start some socks and an afghan, but I want to finish up at least another thing first.

I was pretty pumped because I completely emptied my square basket. I wove in ends and laundered around 120 squares about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately it's filling right back up again. Need to get on that :/

Update     1 April, 2007, 01:23 pm
Happy April!

I just noticed I only posted twice in March. Bad blogger.

I painted the bathroom and scarfed down some lunch and now I'm tuckered. My first time painting all by myself. I think there will be a second 'cause I had trouble spreading the paint evenly. I did take a before picture and may eventually take an after picture.

So in knitting, I finished my Purple Gems socks and have a picture somewhere. I was surprised that there was no bleeding and no shrinking. I actually took measures for both. I finished the yellow baby sweater, but it is the same boat as the purple one from January - needs ends woven in as well as ties. Therefore they are UFOS. So I still have six. Because I started a Booga Bag..heh. The Booga Bag cruises though. So that's 3 easily finished projects and I'll be back to my comfort zone. Which is great because I bought yarn for an afghan and I'm anxious.

Since we're switching months here, I'd like to revisit my goals.

1. Improve my knitting technique.
Nothing worth mentioning this month..

2. Save money.
Yes! It was another good month.

3. Be more active.
Yes! Similar to last month. It's going well. That doesn't say anything about the extra poundage but that's another story.

Update     23 March, 2007, 09:46 pm
Hey, it's been awhile. I seem to be slacking.

This is the BBS. I'm back to where I was the first time. I haven't tried it on yet. Silly me. I need to do that before I go any further to see if I want to make it longer. I've been focusing on it since I realized spring is officially here and if it isn't done soon, I will surely lose interest, especially into summer.

These are my latest Blueberry Waffle socks. I really wanted to try a modified strong heel - no wraps, no picking up stitches, how cool eh? But I did the heels on a bus to Chicago for the Chicagoland Flower & Garden show. BTW, it sucked IMHO so check the website before taking the time and money..

These are some socks for CIC. I wanted a couple samples for the magic loop class I'm doing this weekend. Oh my gosh, did you hear that? This weekend. Tomorrow morning actually. Scary. I need to make some copies and get my shtuff together..

The yellow baby sweater is still waiting for sleeves. And on my To Do list this weekend is to put some ties on the purple baby sweater from like 2 or 3 months ago. I never even bothered to weave the ends in. Ugh! It's part of my de-clutter the living room mission. Part of the clutter is 6, SIX, knitting projects. Who let that happen?

In other news, I have bread in the oven. It smells so good. Scratch that. It's out now and so totally worth the effort. Yum!

Bored with My Knitting     10 March, 2007, 08:50 am
And also, it's 7:30 am on a beautiful Saturday morning and one of my neighbors (I still can't decide which) has been yelling at their kid on and off for the last half our. The little shit just won't go to the bathroom and shut up, y'know? Who tells their kid to shut up and calls them a little shit? And what deluded mom thinks they're going to sleep longer than 7am when they have a little kid? *shrugs*

I realized last night that I have some pretty boring stuff on the needles. And then I didn't want to work on any of it. There's the baby cardigan - stockinette and I've knit that pattern twice before. There's the BBS - also stockinette and my second go at this part of the pattern. Then there's blueberry waffle socks, which I've made at least 3 times before. *yawn*

I did see Knitty has a couple good-lookin' new sock patterns. I'm still wanting to start a Herbert Niebling doily too. I got some crochet cotton, now I need to check out the needle situation. The fair book isn't up yet or I'd start picking projects. In the meantime, I think I'll visit the LYS for some baby yarn to make a couple hats.

Pictures n Stuff     28 February, 2007, 07:45 pm
But first, not only did we get 12 inches of the white stuff this past weekend, we're looking at another 8-12 tonight and tomorrow! :D

The BBS hasn't progressed far enough for pictures. I haven't touched it much 'cause I need to rip and wind some more yarn from the too-big version. Today would be a good day. I usually feel guilty locking the very helpful Smokey out of the room while I wind yarn, but I came home early today as I wasn't feeling well, so he's had enough attention for the day :) Bummer is I'm missing knitting night.

Here's the baby cardigan, ready to bind off the body and go to the sleeves.

These are sockies in my most favorite Blueberry Waffle pattern. The yummy yarn came from RubySapphire Yarns on Etsy. It's superwash merino in the Purple Gems colorway, a bit darker in my picture than in person. I think she reorganized her lines a bit since I bought.

The helpful furball. I got to watch him play with his squirrel friend this afternoon. No worries, Smokey is an inside-only furry.

Despite not needing any sock yarn, I purchased some this afternoon. I visited Angora Valley Yarns and picked out a skein of Lacewing. I've heard really good things about Monarch, but I like the lighter weight sock yarns. In any event, the prices are good and then the skeins are quite generous so I hope I like it..hehe.

Onto the monthly goal evaluation. Let's see..

1. Improve my knitting technique.
Er, I dunno. I did rip and restart my too-big sweater and that is a step in the right direction, me-thinks. FWIW, the gauge was on but I seem to have chosen the wrong size.

2. Save money.
Yes! It was a good month, no thanks to my grocery shopping habits but..

3. Be more active.
Yes! My stationary bicycle has been fixed and I've been using it regularly. I recently tried one of the built-in programs and found it to be quite the challenge.

Hi! I live with my cat and a crabby parrotlet. Once in awhile I try to crochet but I find knitting much easier.
