Oh. My. GOD. In just 10 days this fabulous sounding market just 3 hours away from me will be open to the public for a small fee. The first time it came up, I assumed I'd be working. As every retail slave knows, weekends are for working, and they're 3 days long. Always. At least. But in my current position, where perhaps 95% of the company doesn't know what working on the weekend means, I CAN GO. *drools* Never done this before. I can just buy the ticket online, pay an outrageous parking fee, and drool at mountains and mountains of yarn all day long? Is that how it works? I realized this morning, and didn't have time to check it out before work, and since I didn't have any work to do, it was a long-long day just thinking about the possibilities. Sheesh! Now about the vehicle.. Hi, ghetto-car, will you take me to the mountains of yarn without any extended pit stops? Pretty please?
Okay, so that ultrasound thing? The one where the kids found out they're having a boy? Here's the thing. This baptism gown is quite flowy-and dress-like-looking. I questioned my mom (the one who suggested I make it) at least twice before I started it. "Boys wear baptism gowns?" "A boy could wear this baptism gown?" And y'know she went right ahead and assured me they could. Now, one back and one third of the front through, I decided I should confirm. The response? First, a long pause. And then, "well, maybe you could save it for a girl if they didn't want to use it.. or put it on eBay?" What?!

My poor old lady. See the big cow eyes? She had a splenectomy (isn't that a neat word?) on Friday and they also biopsied a nodule on her liver. The gallbladder is fine. Thanks for the little things.. The results of both biopsies should be back this week. She is feeling much better today, hopping on kitchen chairs, jumpin' on the couch, heading into the basement. Little stinker. I assembled stairs to the couch and her favorite chair, she's been pretty good about using those.
A flower basket. It's a little wonky. I was trying to stretch it out for the picture with a hand and a foot and y'know.. I'm on the fourth repeat and I just put in my first lifeline ever. Because I just made a mistake at the end of the third repeat, but it was a tiny one. I'm going to pretend that didn't happen and take it as a warning.
Yes, with a little prodding I _was_ going to order some of that lovely new laceweight merino yesterday, and the last lace leaf shawl pattern in stock over at One Fine Yarn. But it was not to be. First I started in on the pattern. What, no account? Pfft. So I went ahead without an existing account while I started the KP order. Except it wouldn't display my shopping cart. (PS, if your business site does not function correctly in Firefox, you're on the losing end. Internet Explorer is like the dinosaur of web browsers and you can hardly expect your customers to continue using it. But anyway.) I hauled IE out, with all of the popups it brings, and surprise! There's my cart. Except it won't take the magic word for free shipping. Bah, too late! So I'm gonna hold off till I assemble a larger order, y'know, over $30, 'cause it doesn't pay to keep makin' smaller orders..hehe.
Right at the moment eBay isn't cooperating to list more of my excess plants and I spent at least an hour making the printer behave, so it's just not my weekend with the technology stuff. But I finally got Kiri printed and added to the mental list of things to make. Now to start a shopping list.. :D

Idiosyncrasyn. pl. id· i·o·syn·cra·sies-A structural or behavioral characteristic peculiar to an individual or group.
Write down five of your own personal idiosyncracies.
1. I don't have any friends my own age. And it takes me a long time to make friends so now that I'm bouncing around, uh, I basically don't have any.
2. I never do anything with my hair. It's quite long. I think I can explain that.. but I won't :)
3. I'm shy. Even into high school people told me they didn't know I _could_ talk. I'm not as painfully shy as I used to be, though.
4. I feel an incredible need to help. Mostly animals. (It's torture like, now, when I can't volunteer 'cause I work during the day and I'm squirreling away money so I can't donate.)
5. I like numbers and analyzing stuff and solving problems. I gather that's how I ended up as one of two females in the computer science program at my university.
I shall tag some folks when I have more time. Who knew it takes so long to think of oddities about yourself? And those probably aren't even the best ones..

The results are in! From my little old lady's tests today. It's just about the worst of the 3 possible situations here. Her heart is definitely enlarged so they started her on medication to make her heart work more efficiently. Next is the mass, which wasn't a kidney. It's attached to her spleen and would eventually cause it to rupture. Ew, not pretty. There's somethin' on the gall bladder, either "sludge" or mesta..whatever that word is. So, that's the bit of good news we'd really like to hear (sludge, that is). And a toe nail got ripped out somewhere along the way. Tomorrow she gets the mass removed. Yay. My parents were iffy on whether they'd spend that much, but it's actually pretty reasonable around here. Yay for very reasonable vets!
Work is going well, despite the first bug in my program. Good thing it wasn't distributed yet..heh.
No knitting content, sorry.. hopefully some this weekend. Leave it to Rebecca to remind me of free shipping at KP. Might just cave in yet.. I mean, 3 bucks a skein.. and I can actually knit laceweight without ruffling the wrists' feathers. *ponders*

There they go again.. the new laceweight merino? Mmm. Maybe if I ever finish this shawl.. *grin* That probably would have been easier than alpaca for my first real lace, oh well.
Thanks Maureen, hope your critter is healing quickly!
My dad is much better and Sassy is headed to the vet tomorrow for an EKG, ultrasound, and lab work. If nothing else, hopefully we'll have answers.
Not much knitting. Made some progress on my nephew's (ultrasound results just this week) baptism gown thinger.
Oh, and a new yarn shop. Two or three blocks from where I work. They're on vacation now but next week I hope to walk down over lunch and poke around..

Bah. It's been rough. I'm not used to having drama of any sort in my life..lol. I took my dog in for (mostly) an ear check up this morning and also this puffs-a-lot issue and there could be somethin' more serious going on. Like heart failure or a mass. The vet stumbled and called it a tumor at one point, but it just might be a kidney yet. So any good thoughts you want to think for us, have at it :) Oh, and my dad, his ear drum popped from an infection. So we're all-around happy campers.
Work just got stressful with my first deadline, which I was informed of an hour before I left on Friday. Throw in some work being saved to some sort of black hole on Friday afternoon when the thing is due on Monday morning, and this camper isn't getting any happier. I almost can't wait to get to work on Monday morning to rectify the situation and get the thing done, on time. Not to mention being occupied for long stretches of time.. :D
Screw the CTS, I'm knitting. Today. I gotta. I made two felted mice this evening. They still need to be stuffed. Which made me wonder what other fun things are out there. How 'bout these chickens, eh? The wool _does_ seem easier on everything than the acrylic... Did I mention that stuff's free? The stuff in the last post.. anyone, anyone? I don't have tons but there's 5 skeins of navy mill ends, 3 skeins of teal bulkier weight, 3 skeins of dark green bulkier weight.. and maybe some other stuff floating around.

Hi Jill, my email is being funky and it won't deliver to your address for some reason. If you're still interested, I'll sell the Regia Jubilee below for $8.50, and I'll cover the shipping. Drop a comment if that's appealing and I'll try harder to email you..lol.
Also, I have some acrylic to rehome. It was originally intended for charity knitting, so if anyone wants it for those purposes, I'll cover shipping. Otherwise, shipping's on you :) This stuff admittedly has a funky odor. It came smelling smoky-ish and then I stored it by itself in some coffee beans and thennnn I febreeze'ed it. But it washes out well. Mostly worsted weight red-heart stuff, some bulkier stuff.. All washable, some without labels.. With my knitting time so short these days I just can't see knitting it all up any time soon.
Email or drop a comment or something.. m e (at) r m i l y . c o m
