Child's Sweater Pattern - Seamless?     23 October, 2006, 08:12 pm
Anyone? Size 2, 4 or 6 would be awesome. I just joined CIC knits, hoping to use some recycled wool. Hoping to find a freebie too.. Demanding, huh?

Mystery Stole 2     15 October, 2006, 04:15 pm
Woohoo!! It's done. Done, done, done. Except for blocking. It measures 85" long and 16" wide. I'm hoping to make it wider and shorter during blocking, but that won't happen for awhile. Maybe next weekend..

No more lace for me until I finish the leaf lace shawl. Unless some other fun KAL starts..haha.

I also got the cat mat off the needles so the shawl is the only thing I've going now. I will be starting socks soon.

I was researching TKGA's masters program. I feel like I stopped growing in my knitting. But I think I should start with the fair and see how that goes. The masters program is quite a big jump for me - a self taught knitter of a few years, I think.

Stockings     15 October, 2006, 12:10 am

I saw some cu-ute fabrics at Wal-mart for like 2 bucks a yard and when I heard the group I belong to is collecting stockings for the kids at St. Jude's I picked some up. Here are the results. Quickies - 24 stockings in maybe 4 hours from 6 yards of fabric. I traced a stocking from the dollar store. If anyone wants to join in, holler and I'll give you the mailing address or the Yahoo! group site. They can bit knit, sewn, crocheted, bought, whatever..

Smokey tried helping this morning but eventually gave up and took a nap.

My mp3 player died. I'm so sad. The warranty kinda sucks. You send your player in and they charge you for the labor (since it's over 90 days old) and in the meantime send you either a new one or a refurbished one. Labor sounds expensive and even though it's only 5 months old, you can get so much more for your money now. I'm leaning toward a new one..

Woohoo! Finished Something..     8 October, 2006, 03:40 pm
It seems like it's been awhile since I've finished something.

Here are socks made with Opal (dunno what collection or anything, I can't even remember buying this yarn, how sad is that?) Blueberry Waffle pattern, my favorite. Short row heel and star toe.

Uh yeah, those are pale legs stickin' out in October because it's like 70 degrees. Hello heat wave.

This is what Smokey has been up to.

FYI, those squares aren't being mixed in one ugly afghan or anything.

I finally started the last edging for the stole. That was my big goal for the weekend. How sad.. I'm hoping to get a repeat a day finished so I can block it next weekend but if I had to guess, I'd say that won't happen.

The only other things on the needles are a cat mat (on big fat 11s :D) and same old leaf lace shawl.

Short Row Heels and Cat Questions     25 September, 2006, 09:23 pm
I don't like heel flaps much so I finally sucked it up and made a short row heel. I need to do the other before knitting night 'cause it helps a bunch to have the computer right in front of me. It looks neat and seems to fit so far. It does seem rather short compared to my normal square-ish heel flap. We'll see how it fits as the sock progresses. I put a lifeline in before I started because I know I'd never rip back without it.

Now for the cat questions - Why does his back side smell? Not like I'm sticking my nose up there or anything, but when he walks across me or lays on my lap... It looks pretty clean. FYI he has to go back to the vet this week or next for shots so fear not. Ooh, and he's feeling much better. He even got a burst of energy at 6am this morning and tore around the place and trampled over me while I tried to sleep.

Baby Sweaters     22 September, 2006, 07:24 pm
Both are waiting for ties and some ends to be woven in. Um, and as it turns out I started my socks before that happened. But I had a good reason. See, this LYS has open knitting once a week. Just what I've been looking for.. and all I had on the needles was the tail end of a tiny baby sleeve, the edging for the mystery stole, and the FBS in Zephyr. So obviously I needed to..

How did I find out about the knitting night? Oh y'know, I had to check out the shop 'cause it's on the way home from work. You know how much I need yarn. I got some Wildfoote sock yarn, which I can't even cram into my sock yarn bin, and I got a pattern for a seamless sweater.

Happy Fall y'all! Heh heh. Boy have we been having fall weather. Definitely like fall better than summer.

Glad the weekend is here. Not that I dislike work, but I've been pretty work-less all week. S-O boring.

ETA: I forgot to tell you about my ballwinder. It's scheduled to arrive Monday. Eek, it has been a pretty expensive month with moving n all, but Joann had free shipping and the ballwinder was on sale so it's pretty much the best price you ever see.

Pictures     17 September, 2006, 06:41 pm
Knitting has been happening, yup-yup. Basically all day, except for some dishes, window washing, and a good vacuuming.

Isn't this the cutest pattern ever? It can be found here. The top one just needs ties and some tails woven in. I didn't like how the hood turned out so the second one has a collar. It needs sleeves as well as the ties and tails..

As soon as I finish the sleeve (and maybe the ties) I'm starting a pair of socks.

This is my new friend. We're still getting used to each other. I think we're both counting down the days he needs to have pills. Just three days, twice each. Whew!

Oh, and I just realized my blog's been here for 2 years. Has it really been that long?

Hi! I live with my cat and a crabby parrotlet. Once in awhile I try to crochet but I find knitting much easier.
