Look, I     23 August, 2008, 08:02 pm
Up a storm! Haha. Not really..

Here's a few pairs for Mittens for Akkol.

I think this pair needs a dye job.. ick huh? I just did a rib and shifted it over every 7 or 8 rows.

These might go to CIC since they're small-ish.

My Olympic socks from Cascade Heritage. Yum. Pattern is blueberry waffle.

Lorna's Laces in Lakeview. Yum again. Pattern is blueberry waffle.

Panda Silk in Plum - total yum!! Pattern is blueberry waffle. Surprise? If I were to knit this yarn again I would definitely invest in wood or bamboo. Slippery stuff here!

Sockies     15 June, 2008, 05:14 pm
Finished, yay! These are knit in Plymouth Happy Feet. I gave them to my mom 'cause they matched her pants. It's kind of a modified moss stitch or something. I was aiming for my favorite blueberry waffle pattern and had a brain fart. Oh well.

I'm not sure which socks to start next. I have some yummy Cascade Heritage I want to try but I also want to knit the socks from the new Knitty. The Heritage I have is multicolor so I won't do both in the same sock. Hm. For now I'm concentrating on an afghan. It's double worsted weight acrylic so I only get a pattern repeat or two done a day and then my hands are sore..

Mystery Stole 3     17 May, 2008, 06:52 pm
Woohoo! Finished, finally. I made the symmetrical version with Lacey Lamb. The other half's there, I promise. I had trouble getting a good picture.

So then I kind of got the itch to do some more lace and I'm not really drawn to my partially finished leaf lace shawl so I got some yarn for Hanami. Not started yet, I gotta rip two pairs of socks first.

More Soap     14 May, 2008, 07:46 pm
This is a black amber and lavender batch. I'm still looking for a couple more testers, holler if you're interested (me at rmily.com). I'll send you a bar and you can let me know what you think..

Projects     26 April, 2008, 09:19 am
Here's a baby hat, does it look familiar? I made one a few weeks ago for my niece. Her parents actually like it, but then it disappeared, so my dad called to ask me to make her a another, bigger one. Pattern is here.

I added stitches to make it the stated size because I apparently like to ignore stated gauge. Heh.

Here's a pink scarf in a diagonal rib pattern found here. Kinda flew by the seat of my pants on this one and it actually worked out on the first try. It is off to a breast cancer project.

These are sockies, probably for CIC. I ran out of yarn but I think the toes look cute. Would have been nice with a matching heel but.. eh.

Shucks, my DVD recorder is off getting fixed so I think I might be bored enough to clean today. There was a bus heading to Chicago to do an orchid crawl. Thought I might go but decided I should probably save the money instead. I'm kind of regretting that decision. I think it's happening again in September, though.

Picture Time     13 April, 2008, 04:39 pm
I've been knitting, lotsa little quick stuff.

This is a Knitting Pure & Simple pattern in Marble yarn. It was so quick and easy. I made the 6 month size but the Marble is dk so it came out to be more like newborn-ish.

I was whining about how I'm having trouble finding local places to donate items and my mom said I could knit baby hats for her. She works on the baby floor at a hospital. So this is the first.

BTW, there were 4 listings on my city's volunteering website. I contacted 3 of them. One got back to me saying they would contact me later. Never heard from the other two and the first never contacted me again. Guess they don't need knitters after all? Weird.. Anyway, that's what I like about Online Angels; they take just about anything you want to knit and distribute it for you. I've just been bummed that I've been sending everything away when I'm sure there are people locally that could use things.

Second hat. I sort of winged it on both 'cause I couldn't find patterns for what I wanted. I think this one turned out pretty good.

These are big socks for Mittens for Akkol out of Patons something.. Classic Wool maybe?

Caught the furry beast working the system. He hasn't gained any weight so it must be so tedious that it's not worth the effort unless he's extremely bored or extremely starving.

Soap Testers, Anyone?     13 April, 2008, 04:20 pm
So I've become addicted to soap making in addition to yarn collecting. Each batch makes 20 bars which is more than enough to keep my family and I stocked. I've been thinking I could donate some to shelters and use some as gifts. Maybe eventually sell some in the future. I wanted to get some opinions first so that's where you guys come in.. I hear shelters can be picky about accepting handcrafted soap. If you're interested, drop a comment with your email addy. I'm thinking I'll let you know what I have to test (right now I have nag champa and light lavender, both vegetarian). If you're in, I'll send a bar and follow-up with an email survey a couple weeks later.

Here's the nag champa. No pictures of the lavender yet. I use a bar from every batch myself and pass two on to immediate family so you won't be the first guinea pig in line.

Hi! I live with my cat and a crabby parrotlet. Once in awhile I try to crochet but I find knitting much easier.
